Camp Lejeune, NC: Col R. Feynman, the commanding officer of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, is scheduled to relinquish command to Col L. Steinberg in a ceremony at the W.P.T Hill Field parade deck later on today. Incoming commander Col L. Steinberg is a well known and respected officer and has served as the commanding officer of the 17th MEU since January 2012. Col R. Feynman will retire from this billet after 27 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps. The change of command ceremony is a formal tradition, symbolizing the continuity of the authority of command. It is a transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability from one officer to another and is usually conducted before the assembled company of the command.

Camp Lejeune, NC: Our Military Times was able to recently get a moment with Col L. Steinberg, the 24th MEU's latest commander, where we were able to get some great questions in.
ME: Thank you for being able to afford the time for this interview
COL L. STEINBERG: Not a problem. Always glad to do them.
ME: Does the 24th pose any sort of new challenges different from your previous experiences being the commanding officer of the 17th?
COL L. STEINBERG: Oh, yes! Currently, the 24th has been going through, not just a change of command staff, but also is in the process of gathering reinforcements in terms of troops and supplies. Previous combat operations proved to be costly, and we are trying to recover fully.
ME: Can you elaborate a little more on that? About how long are you expecting it to take before you reach full operational status?
COL L. STEINBERG: I fully expect that we should reach that point in the very near future. Currently, we are working hard to try and get ourselves fully prepared and staffed.
ME: Thank you very much for your time.
COL L. STEINBERG: You're most welcome.
